But surely this is a good thing isn’t it? Will the utility companies be able to make merry and collect the precious bounty that seems to be continually falling from the skies or running off the land? It is to be hoped so, as with reported losses to leakage of  upto 25% that’s an awful lot of water to collect to maintain current stock levels.

It is times like these when we see rain pouring down that the issue of water levels once again gets pushed to the back of peoples minds, perhaps more importantly it quickly falls from the political agenda. Therefore it is up to all of us to remain mindful of the ways we can help in ensuring that water isn’t wasted. However following recent news stories such as this one  http://bbc.in/HhEPPw saw a wave of activity on social networks and networking forums to discuss what should be being done. The AquaPoint office also witnessed some heated discussions around the water cooler as to role played by the utility companies and their poor record on leaks & wastage. Other contentious issues related to the lack of awareness and the general reluctance of people to change our attitude to the use of water.

Perhaps the most interesting discussions around sought to highlight the ecological or environmental opportunities to make a difference rather than just blame the water companies. Most of these initiatives are cost effective but never get discussed, yet all could play their part in reducing the demand on the nations supply. Ideas like rainwater storage reservoirs on farmland or the harvesting of rainwater and run off in new housing developments. Many of us might not have heard of attenuation and balancing ponds on new highways, green roofing being adapted for grey water recycling and constructed wetlands for sewage treatment. But they will become the norm in the future as we look at every option to preserve our most precious of resources.

So the recent shortages in some parts of the UK and the introduction of hose pipe bans may have been an issue for many but on a positive note at least it has made people sit up and take notice.

When should you drink?

If you notice your urine is darker, drink more water. You should of course drink more if you have been sweating or if you are playing sports.

Tales of tee shirts, shorts and ice creams could be heard as people recounted the near summer temperatures they’d experienced especially on Sunday. It seems most people had taken advantage of the unusally warm spell and headed off all around the region to take in the delights of York, Leeds and the coastal towns of Bridlington & Scarborough. There’s even more good news as the warm temperatures are set to continue this week with  predicted highs of 17 (62F).

Meanwhile the England Rubgy Union side defeated France 24-22 at the Stade de France, scoring three tries in a sparkling display that will have finally laid the World Cup ghosts to rest. English supporters in the AquaPoint ranks were more than happy to relive the most exciting moments of the game and toast the victors with a cup of the finest AquaPoint Pure.

In a change to 2011 the event will now run over two days on March 21st & 22nd 2012 and will once again be held at The Royal Armouries in Leeds. Boasting 155 exhibition stands and with pre-registered visitors  in excess of 3200 AquaPoint Sales Director Bob Procter said that ”There’s no better business event happening in Yorkshire this year. Our involvement last year with the children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent proved to be a real highlight. Everyone at AquaPoint was extremely proud to be associated with such a high profile charity and delighted that our contribution was well received by the CLIC Sargent staff.

Our choice for 2012 has certainly caused a real buzz around the water coolers as we support the work of The BIG Gorilla.

The organisation organises high profile events and donates profits to a number of national, regional and local causes.

The biggest event of 2012 will be The BIG Gorilla Fun Run which takes place on the famous Knavesmire, York Racecourse in September.

AquaPoint have sponsored places in the run, which as well as supporting CLIC Sargent will see the fantastic Yorkshire Air Ambulance, STEPteam UK and local community groups benefiting.

Director Adele Procter is delighted with this year’s project, “It’s fabulous that we have the opportunity to promote AquaPoint in this fun way”. No nonsense from the team at AquaPoint, it’s a new year and a new canvass from which we intend to create a masterpiece. Now it’s not often the terms masterpiece and mains fed cooler can be used in the same sentence but I’m sure you see where we are coming from.
