AQUAPOINT DIRECTOR CONTINUES TO RAISE AWARENESS

Posted on Nov23, 2011 by Eddie

AquaPoint Operations Director Martin Harman continues to get the message out in support of his campaign to raise awareness about Heart Arrhythmia.

Amid great excitement Martin set up an area in the sales office upstairs for staff members to join him for their very own ‘ Pulse Check’ and offered lots of information for them to take away with them so that they could practice on their family & friends. Of course there was the usual “banter” flying around with several colleagues expressing suprise that a certain member of staff even had a pulse, it’s a tough school at AquaPoint. Martin was quick to thank his colleagues explaining that “their support no matter how big or small, will help to raise awareness of how a simple pulse check could help save a life”.

The Pulse Check Guide teaches YOU how to take YOUR pulse, what it means and when YOU should seek further advice for an irregular heartbeat.

Why should you support Know Your Pulse?

The problem…

In the UK:

  • More than 2 million people are affected by an arrhythmia
  • 120,000 people experience unexplained loss of consciousness each year
  • 100,000 sudden cardiac deaths each year; the equivalent of 250 people each day. Sudden cardiac death leads to more deaths worldwide than breast cancer, lung cancer and AIDS combined
  • 30 per cent of adults and 39 per cent of children are misdiagnosed with epilepsy when in fact they have a heart rhythm disorder
  • The easiest way to detect an arrhythmia is to feel the pulse
